Local People. Firsthand Knowledge.

Our connection to Ocean City goes beyond a website address. Our team includes residents and contributors with longstanding ties to Ocean City and Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

Ann McGinnis Hillyer — CEO, Photographer & Enthusiastic Ocean City Explorer

Ann McGinnis Hillyer lives in nearby Berlin, Maryland, but any excuse to head into Ocean City usually works—especially if it involves a camera, a boat or a good meal. As CEO of OceanCity.com, she combines more than three decades of marketing and tourism experience with a personal love of Maryland’s coast.

Since joining State Ventures in 1999, Ann has helped visitors discover Ocean City while connecting them with the local businesses and people who make it special. Her projects include the Best of Ocean City® program, Shore Craft Beer festivals and community tourism initiatives. Along the way, her work has earned statewide recognition, including Maryland Tourism Coalition’s Hospitality Person of the Year award in 2021.

Ann is happiest photographing the beach, fishing, exploring restaurants or traveling with her partner or family. These days, one of her favorite roles is grandmother to three grandchildren—and she’s doing her best to pass along a love of the ocean and Ocean City, one beach day at a time.

Anne Neely — Client Liaison, Photographer, Writer & Social Media Expert

Anne Neely in Ocean City md

Originally from Edinburgh, Scotland, Anne Neely discovered Ocean City more than three decades ago and found a place worth calling home. She still loves to travel, but Maryland’s coast has kept her heart—and her camera—close to the beach. You will always find her at the Shore Craft Beer Festivals with her partner, Dave.

Since joining OceanCity.com in September 2014, Anne has helped bring Ocean City’s stories to life through her writing, photography and social media coverage. Whether she’s visiting a hotel, exploring a restaurant or photographing a community event, she brings curiosity and a longtime resident’s eye for the details visitors want to know.

As our client liaison, Anne also connects with the local businesses that make Ocean City special. Those relationships, combined with decades of exploring the area, give her work a personal perspective: she knows the places, the people behind them and the experiences that keep visitors coming back.

Glenn Irwin — OceanCity.com’s OC Bike Guy

Glenn Irwin knows Ocean City from the street level—and often from the seat of his bicycle. An Ocean City resident, Glenn retired in March 2023 after nearly 23 years as Executive Director of the Ocean City Development Corporation (OCDC), a nonprofit dedicated to revitalizing downtown Ocean City.

His work spanned historic building renovations, public art, special events, design standards, employee housing and promotion of downtown and the Boardwalk. That experience gives him a deep understanding of Ocean City’s history, character and changing landscape.

As OceanCity.com’s OC Bike Guy, Glenn shares a resident’s perspective on exploring town by bicycle. He rides through downtown and along the Boardwalk several times a week for exercise and enjoyment, often year-round when the weather allows. He and his wife, Pam, love Ocean City and share that love with OceanCity.com visitors. His contributions combine practical cycling insights with decades of firsthand knowledge of the community.

Best of Ocean City®: Community Voices and Local Picks

OceanCity.com’s Best of Ocean City® program celebrates the restaurants, bars, attractions, shops and experiences that residents and visitors love.

The program combines public voting with editorial selections, giving readers both community favorites and recommendations from our team. In 2026, more than 100,000 votes were cast across 40 categories.

Public-vote winners are determined by votes, rather than advertising or sponsorship. Our published results distinguish poll winners from editorial picks so you can understand how each business was recognized.

For visitors, these recommendations provide another way to discover where to eat, drink, shop and explore—with input from people who know and enjoy Ocean City.

Supporting the Community We Call Home

Ocean City’s character comes from its people: restaurant owners, hotel teams, fishing captains, artists, event organizers and the many others who welcome visitors throughout the year.

We help tell their stories and connect visitors with local experiences. Through our guides, photographs, Best of Ocean City® program and community conversations, we encourage people to explore the area and support the businesses that make it special.

Our community photo contest also celebrates Ocean City through the eyes of the residents and visitors who love it—from beach sunrises and Boardwalk memories to the wildlife along our coast.
