The largest and richest billfish tournament is finally here! The White Marlin Open is upon us here in Ocean City, Maryland the electricity is contagious! Sunset Marina, the home of many White Marlin Open fishing boats, take on the docks for the week long extravaganza. But did you know that there’s another race within the race for the fish? The Teasers Cup!
What is the Teasers Cup?
This year's winners will receive this Superbowl style ring!
The Teasers Cup, an annual bar ‘race” of its own begins the Monday of the open. Any boat fishing can enter and the goal? To rack up the highest bar tab at Teasers Bar and Grill located on the docks of Sunset Marina.
Champagne, Casamigos, and Orange Crushes
Former winners have received WWE style buckles in addition to trophies.
Captains and anglers congregate at Teasers to splurge on extravagant liquors, to celebrate and go wild as their boats climb the leaderboards towards millions of dollars in prize money. How much is “splurging” you ask? Back in 2017 Goin In Deep, won the infamous cup with a bar tab of $20,550.05! But as the years have gone by, bars have increased- even leapt! The 2023 year, the 50th Anniversary of The White Marlin Open, The Teasers Cup winner was Gret’s 3 J’s with a whopping bar tab of over $40,000!
What Do The Teasers Cup Winners Win?
2017's winners Goin in Deep racked up a $20,000 bar tab.
In the past years, Teasers Cup winners have won well deserved trophies, WWE-esque belts, along with accolades along the docks here in Ocean City, Maryland. But this year they are stepping up their game with a gold super bowl style ring.
The 2023 winners Gret's 3 J's had a whopping bar tab of 0ver $40,000 for the week of The White Marlin Open.
